The thing that I most appreciate about Andrew is the honesty and maturity of his lyrics. If you’ve ever experienced the deafening silence during your dark trial, you can appreciate the sentiment expressed in this song.

As I’ve been doing some research on the Indellible Grace music I’ve started to realize that a major part of Christian hymnody through the years (beginning with the Psalms!) has been the melodious expression of difficulty. How mature and blessed is the man who realizes that Christianity isn’t an ethereal escapism but it, in this life, consists of a hard, cross-bearing, self-denying, and painful existence. We should be able to express these times of sorrow without shame. Even if God is silent, He still is the only one worth turning to with our depressions. Blessed is the man that is beggardly, mourning, meek, hungry, and thirsty. Truly, citizens of the kingdom are happy but, at times, painfully so. Thanks for the post.
